Stanley Cup playoffs: Three prop bets for the Bruins-Leafs Round 1 playoff series

None of the first-round matchups in the Stanley Cup playoffs are garnering more pre-round hype than the beaut of a battle that will take place between the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs. And, as such, plenty of fans will be placing their bets on what should be a face-melter of a series.

Will the B's get revenge for last year's first-round exit? Will the Leafs win a playoff series against Boston for the first time since 1959? Will Brad Marchand do something epically ridiculous in Game 1 that sets the tone for the whole series? The potential storylines are endless — which makes wagering on the action that much more fun.

With so many fun possible outcomes, placing a simple moneyline bet on who will win this series simply won't do.

Here are some prop bets you should consider placing on the upcoming first-round showdown between the Bruins and the Leafs.

Just how long will this series go? DraftKings is favoring this matchup to go six or seven games for a +200 payout. History is also backing this bet since the last three playoff series between these teams have all gone to seven games, per Champs of Chumps. (Boston won all three times.)

And what about tallying points? With top goal-scorer Auston Matthews going up against point-scoring extraordinaire David Pastrnak, this is bound to be a high-scoring series. That's also probably why DK has both Matthews and Pastrnak listed as +200 co-favorites to be the points leaders in the series, and either player would be good to bet on here. Matthews' supporting cast of Mitch Marner and William Nylander are both priced at +600 to be the lead points-getter, while Marchand is listed at +1200.

What about hat tricks? You can't have a high-scoring series without a hattie, right? DK is actually favoring zero hat tricks being scored in this series for a -145 payout. However, betting for there to be one hat trick at +160 is a confident bet, especially when you consider the rate Matthews is scoring at.

And just so we have it on here, Boston is the -125 favorite in the money line at DK to win the series — but that has more to do with Toronto not beating them in the playoffs since before the moon landing. While the Bruins took the regular-season series against the Leafs, both teams have lost four games over their last 10 of the regular season and are ending the regular season looking a bit tepid.

Plus, Boston was the favorite to win the Cup last year before the Florida Panthers gave them the early boot in the first round. So, maybe this is a wager you should think twice about placing.

More prop bets will be posted once the NHL regular season is completely concluded, but these are solid bets to start with if you want to play along with the Boston Bruins-Toronto Maple Leafs matchup.

A date and start time for Game 1 is to be determined.
